Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Execute trades by completing buy or sell orders

  • Monitor global trends and developments in legal and regulatory landscape to inform trades

  • Analyse trades’ cost of capital and returns versus risk considerations

  • Identify, assess and mitigate operational risk resulting from any adverse impact of trades performed

  • Support all post-trade execution processes

  • Determine suitability of the client or counterparty for the trade to minimise counterparty risk

  • Complete trade documentation, including International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) agreements for derivative transactions to ensure compliance with the bank or financial institution’s risk management policies 

  • Construct model portfolios 

  • Gather accurate qualitative and quantitative data for analysis and make investment recommendations

Course Objectives

The course objectives are to equip trading representatives and equity trading professionals with the know-how to better engage clients on a stock portfolio basis, risk management and to develop for strategic and opportunistic investment actions for clients

This course is an update toolkit for practising remisiers to keep current with investment and financial management skills. Participants will refresh on trading strategies, better manage risks related issues and enhance advisory services to clients on trading ideas and their portfolio allocation.

This IBF-STS course is recognised under the Standards Training Scheme (STS) and is eligible for STS claims subject to all eligibility criteria being met.
